Pauline McCabe, Creative Director
A finalist for 2020 & 2019 Hair Expo Australian Hairdresser of the Year, Pauline McCabe is the powerhouse art director behind South Fremantle’s Rock Paper Scissors Hair Studio.
Synthesising look and message to create dazzling effects is Pauline's specialty. She has worked on shows for world-renowned Fashion Weeks, such as Paris Haute Couture (2019 & 2017), London (2019 & 2018), New York (2019 & 2018), and Milan (2019 & 2018 & 2017), Melbourne, and in June 2019 she directed hair for the opening show of Sydney FW for Aje.
Some notable shows have been: Hugo Boss, Burberry, Vera Wang, Ten Pieces, Michael Sorado, Bassike, Schiaparelli, Victor & Rolph, Giovanni Bedin, Gareth Pugh, Roksanda, Simone Rochas, Richard Quinn (with the Queen and Anna Wintour present in front row), Derek Lam label, the Ralph Lauren 50th anniversary show, Galindo NYC, Priscavera, Zero + Maria Cornejo, Sandy Liang, PE Nation, Ermanno Scervino, Trussardi, Etro, Gucci, Vivienne Westwood, Valentino and Armani.
McCabe’s varied hairdressing roles include stylist, educator, art director and mentor. A regular session stylist with Perth’s STM magazine, McCabe’s work has appeared in (among others) German Vogue, Yen, Hairdressers Journal International, Laud and Dscene, and she's styled celebrities including Florence Welch (Florence + the Machine).
Scottish-born McCabe trained with British trailblazers Irvine and Rita Rusk, who took over the mantle from Vidal Sassoon. Later she was Artistic Director for Trevor Sorbie in his heyday. She then launched her own hugely successful salon in London’s King Road. Moving to WA in 2000, her passion and creativity have continually flourished, and she's brought her mentorship and expertise to share with her hand-picked creative team at Rock Paper Scissors.
